How We Tone and Blend Extensions at the Chair
Every toning appointment starts with a strand test in natural light, never a formula guess. Only after that test do we touch the hair you're wearing that day. Here's the order we work in:
- Review your color and extension history, the same way we do at every consultation.
- Pull an extra piece from the same weft, whether it's a K + M Genius Weft or a set you brought in. Test the formula on it in natural light.
- Apply the color to the wefts you're wearing. Once the formula is right, we usually reach for a demi-permanent glaze instead of a full lightener. A glaze deposits tone without stripping the fiber's strength.
- Check processing every few minutes and rinse the second it hits the shade we're after. In our chair, a glaze usually rinses inside half an hour. We don't set a timer and walk away.
