There is so much information available about all the different kinds of extensions…tape ins, clip ins, i tips, fusion, hand tied and more. Believe it or not I have offered many of these methods but through research and trial and error I have found my personal favorite, Natural Beaded Rows.
I will not bash another method or try and talk you out of one that you love. I wanted to shed light on a few reasons why I chose to specialize in NBR and why it has been a game changer for our salon and our clients.
How is NBR applied? NBR is installed with a combination of tiny beads, string and your hair. There is a foundation created first then we take custom colored hand tied wefts and sew them on to the track created.
Why do we use hand tied hair and what is it? Hand tied hair is a weft that is packed full of hair but lays flat against your head to create the most comfortable and non bulky feel. We are able to lay as many as 6 wefts per row.
How many rows will I need? I’m glad you asked! Generally for volume only (no length) we can get away with one row. One row is comfortable and a makes a significant difference but very easy to maintain. About 80% of my clients have 2 rows (length and volume). With 2 rows we can create a very natural look with less wefts or we can pack out those rows to give you the Victoria Secret hair you have aways wanted. Now if you have a ton of hair naturally we may be looking at adding a mini row (half of a regular size) or even a third row. But no need to worry, we can look at your hair and recommend the best route for you!
One of my favorite parts of NBR is how we custom color each and every weft. We look at the root color of your hair and take into consideration all the different tones and dimension you have and match it to your hair creating a seamless transition from root to end. Usually there is anywhere from 3 - 5 different colors of wefts added in to help aid in the most natural looking extensions. Our hair isn’t one color so why should your extensions be? This ensures that if the wind blows or you put your hair up in a ponytail you secret is safe with us 🙂
We are able to achieve such amazing fullness and volume with Natural Beaded Rows and we can’t wait for you to experience your transformation and walk out with endless confidence.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long does NBR last?
Natural Beaded Row extensions typically last eight to twelve weeks between maintenance appointments. With proper care and regular visits to Kinsley + Mane in Alamo, CA, the hair itself can be reused for up to a year, making it an excellent long term investment in your look.
Is NBR comfortable to wear?
NBR is one of the most comfortable extension methods available. Because the beads sit flat against the scalp and the wefts distribute weight evenly, most of my clients forget they are even wearing extensions within a day or two of installation.
Can I exercise with NBR extensions?
Yes, you can absolutely maintain an active lifestyle with NBR extensions. I recommend pulling your hair into a loose braid or low ponytail during workouts and washing with a gentle, sulfate free shampoo afterward. Many of our most active clients in Alamo love how seamlessly NBR fits into their fitness routines.
